Hi again, gang, from the shores of the Salish Sea.  We want to wish the female parents of the world ~ all species included ~ a Happy Mother’s Day.  As we mentioned in our last edition, this holiday began after an American woman whose own beloved mom passed away, loved her so much that she, the daughter, decided that motherhood in general should have one day, all its own.

President Woodrow Wilson agreed with her and so did Congress.  (Like who is going to vote against motherhood?)  That this holiday is celebrated as widely as it is speaks well of us as a species.

The more passion we put into it, the less room there will be for behavior which has not dignified women but which, in fact, has been more gender oppressive than that of any other known species.  The fact remains that as long as there is one battered woman or abused child, we do not revere motherhood enough.

My thanks to Emma and Richard in Ontario for this plum.  Why You Should Watch An Uplifting Movie Tonight  I do this every day.  I spent enough time in Hollywood to become passionate about the entertainment industry in general.  Thanks to AOL’s ability to save links in my personal directory, I’ve got a great media collection – courtesy of YouTube ~ which also includes full length movies and TV episodes, which I also share with friends.  So far, the two I watch most often are “Mr. Smith Goes To Washington” and the 1999 Western “Purgatory.”

Our hearts and prayers go out to our readers in Alberta, Canada.  I know what fires in forests and on ships are.  And I remember that when the Okanogan was on fire up north of here in British Columbia a few years ago, the inferno was nothing like this.  Video: The ‘Terrifying’ Journey Out Of Canada’s Wildfires

Okay, that’s it for now.  You folks have a great week.  And thanks again, then, eh, for the ear.

Hi Mishka:

This week, the social networks leaked photos of Hollywood star and UNICEF goodwill ambassador Orlando Bloom visiting school in Slovyansk (East Ukraine). UNICEF told why Orlando bloom came to Donbass

Cities this star of “Lord of the Rings” and ” Pirates of the Caribbean” visited included Svyatogorsk, Kramatorsk.  All were on the front line of the conflict which started two years ago.  As a result, they were heavily damaged. UNICEF help for children of this area is very important for their future worldview.

People of culture can make much more for peace that millions of guns

That’s it for this week.  Stay safe, my cousin Mishka.
